

James G. Moore Sr., age 87, of Northport, died Feb. 18, 2013, at DCH Regional Medical Center. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Memory Hill Gardens with Bro. Albert Lyles and Bro. Cliff Patterson officiating and Memory Chapel Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, L.C. and Ruby Moore; his brother, Walter Moore; and his daughter, Linda Estes.
Survivors include his wife, Pauline Simpson Moore of Northport; his daughter, Paula Nan Gibbs (Bill) of Birmingham; his son, James “John” Moore Jr. (Polly) of Coker; his sisters, Ina Carol Clements and Letha Mae Zabreski; his brother, Paul Moore; his grandchildren, David Parham (Teresa), Teresa Parham (Art), Dileana Owenby (Steve), and Stephanie Johnston (Joe); five great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Mr. Moore was born May 14, 1925, to L.C. and Ruby Moore in Belpine, Miss. He was married to Pauline Simpson Moore, and they would have celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary on March 31st. He worked at BF Goodrich for 37 years until he retired. He was known for his love for animals, whether his own or stray. Anyone who met or knew him knew he was a Christian. He truly was an example of God's love. He was a wonderful husband, father, pawpaw, brother, uncle, and friend. He will be missed.
Pallbearers will be Ronald Johnson, James Jeffries, David Ramsey, Frank Smelley, Eric Sularin, and Keith Waid.
Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Stephen Browne and the nurses and staff at DCH 4th, 5th, and 7th floors, especially TSICU nurses and staff who provided excellent care.
A very special thank you to Glora Jean Marler for the outstanding compassion and care she has shown our family.
