

James Stanley Smith, 67, of Tuscaloosa, passed away on October 01, 2021, at DCH. A visitation is planned for Monday, October 04, 2021 at Circlewood Baptist Church, beginning at 1:00pm, and will be immediately followed by a Funeral Service at 2:00pm. Rev. Herb Thomas will officiate and Fire Department Honors will be provided by the Tuscaloosa Fire Department Honors Team. Burial services will be held at Memory Hill Gardens, Garden of the Cross, immediately following funeral services. Services are under the direction of Memory Chapel, a Dignity Memorial provider.
Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his parents Herman D. and Eunice Kimbrell Smith, son Christopher Andrew Smith and grandsons: Christian Alexander Aaron and Conner Michael Aaron.
He is survived by his wife Carolyn Moore Smith; daughter Lindsay Miller Aaron (Chris) of Jasper, AL; son Jonathan Hunter Smith (Erin) of Cornelius, NC; sister Debbie Duncan (Charles); brother Steve Smith; grandchildren: Coulson Miller Aaron, Addisyn Laine Aaron, Alaina Reese Aaron, Samuel Reid Aaron, Skyland Rose Aaron and Ryan James Aaron.
Stanley, a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, was born in Greer, SC, on November 30, 1953. He was a graduate of Holt High School, class of 1971. He was a Paramedic with the Tuscaloosa Fire Rescue. On May 17, 1980, he married Carol Moore Smith, also a Paramedic with City Ambulance and nurse at DCH. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved the sport of fishing and hunting. He also enjoyed the art of woodworking and was a member of the Woodworkers Association of West Alabama. Stan was an avid reader and loved mystery and adventure stories. He also enjoyed the wonders of ocean aquatics. Stan was a dedicated servant at Circlewood Baptist Church, the Fishers of Men Sunday School Class teacher and on the audio/visual team. He always enjoyed serving his community through volunteering at the Tuscaloosa Track Club and Druid City Bicycle Club.
Members of the Tuscaloosa Fire Department Honors Team will serve as Active Pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers will be all members, past and present, of Tuscaloosa, and surrounding areas, EMS, Fire Departments and Law Enforcement, as well as his Fishers of Men Sunday School Class at Circlewood Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Circlewood Baptist Church.
