TUSCALOOSA - James Olen “Jimmy” Stewart, age 67, of Tuscaloosa, Ala., died unexpectedly July 5, 2020 at his residence. Services will be 3 p.m. Sunday, July 12, 2020, at Northport Church of God with Pastor Greg Strickland and Pastor Kyle McCarty officiating. Entombment will follow in the Chapel of Memories Mausoleum in Memory Hill Gardens with Heritage Chapel Funeral Home & Cremations, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be 2-3 p.m. Sunday, July 12, 2020, at Northport Church of God.
He was preceded in death by his father Olen H. Stewart
Survivors include his wife, Patricia “Patty” McCraw Stewart of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; daughter, Jamie Michelle White (Bobby) Woodstock, Ala.; son, James Christopher Stewart (Jessica) of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; brothers, Dennis Stewart (Judy) of Hoover, Ala. and Ricky Stewart (Patsy) of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; mother, Gladys Bell Stewart Tuscaloosa, Ala.; grandchildren, Drew, Drake, Rhayann, Jade, Blake, Gavin, Chloe, Bella, Kate, Aubree and Jordan; and great-grandchildren, Brooks Jr., Ryder, Mariah, Addalyn, Skylar and Kinsley.
Jimmy Stewart was a joy to share life with. He loved unconditionally, laughed often, worked hard and shared his faith in God with everyone.
He was a proud Navy Veteran who counted it a privilege to participate in the 2018 Honor flight with his brother Ricky. He spent the past 43 ½ years making friends while working at BF Goodrich. He was an enthusiastic Alabama baseball fan often leading cheers in the stands.
He was a devoted husband, daddy, pa, son, brother, uncle and friend. He showed up, showed out and enjoyed time with his family and friends. He was funny, had the best smile, and was our fearless leader and defender.
His legacy was simply the best - only Jesus. He changed our lives by the way he lived his for the Lord. He will be deeply missed.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Crowder, Ruben Greenwood, Jeff Howell, Mike Howell, Zane Kizziah, Mike Lamb, Mike Nix and Donny Thousen.
Honorary pallbearers are BF Goodrich; and UA Baseball coaches and teams.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Smoky Mountain Children's Home, Sevierville, Tenn.
