

ALBERTA - Janie Mae Moses, age 93, passed away on July 17, 2019. Services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, July 22, 2019, at Memory Chapel with Pastor Keith Pugh officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Gardens. Visitation will be prior to the service beginning at 10 a.m.
Janie was born March 7, 1926 in the Brookwood community and graduated from Brookwood High in 1945. She worked at the paper mill in Tuscaloosa when she met and married Quinon J. Moses and they lived in the Alberta City area of Tuscaloosa operating a prominent plumbing and construction company for many years. After Q.J.'s death in 1991, Janie continued with the help of her sons to operate Alberta Plumbing and a handful of rental properties in the Alberta area.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Q. J. Moses; infant son, Ricky J. Moses; parents, J.R. and Betty Pumphrey; beloved brothers, Louis, Webster, Forrest, and Leon Pumphrey; and sister and best friend, Pauline Simpson; nephews, JT Stamps (Tammy) and John Stamps.
She will be lovingly remembered by her sons, Danny Mac and Robert Q. "Bobby" Moses (Sheila); granddaughter, Julie Moses Meggs (Alex); grandson, Matthew Q. Moses; and great-grandchildren, Wyatt, Sawyer, Clarissa, and Quinon Meggs; sisters-in-law, Billie Ruth Pumphrey (Forrest) and Billie Ruth Pumphrey (Leon); nieces, Janet Marcum (Tatum), Donna Bailey (John), and Paula Thompson; nephews, Hal Stamps, Mark Pumphrey (Susan); and numerous cherished great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews.
Janie was a long-time member of Alberta Baptist Church and in her golden years was an active member of the PrymeTymers, traveling in fellowship with many of her closest friends. Janie enjoyed collecting dolls, angels, and doing ceramics. She also enjoyed working the voting polls in her district. She always liked to stay busy, social, and active in church until her health and vision loss prevented her from doing so.
Pallbearers are her great-nephews, Chuck Thompson, Jerrod Pumphrey, John Dalton Holemon, Heath Stamps; great-great-nephew, Dakota Fisher; and family friend Jack Mahan.
Profound gratitude goes to her beloved niece, Janet Marcum, for her loving care and companionship near the end of her life.
