Joan Allene Armstrong was born in Kosciusko, MS on June 26,1942.
She graduated from Eupora High School in Eupora, Ms in 1961.
On Aug 31,1962 she married Lee Dois Armstrong, the love of her life and they shared 61 beautiful years together. Her favorite hobbies were sewing and cooking.
She gave birth to 3 Children –( but she was a Mom to many ) and was blessed with 8 Grandchildren and 10 Great-grandchildren. She loved her family and prayed many prayers over each family member.
She had many titles and jobs through the years – but Proverbs 31:10 says it best Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies. The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil. She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life. She stretcheth out her hand to the poor; yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy. Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come. She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness. She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness. Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her. Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised. Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates.
Joan Allene Armstrong was not a name that was used very much, but the name “Sister Armstrong” was heard very often. In 1966, she became a Pastor’s wife (First Lady) for the first time. She enjoyed cooking for guest ministers and church family - planning events –teaching a Sunday School class - whatever was needed. At the time of her death – she was still fulfilling that calling at Fellowship Temple Assembly of God In Berry, AL where she served along her husband as Pastor. Although her health hindered her these last few years – She continued to serve to the best of her ability – She was Faithful. She loved to stand at the door as everyone exited after service to greet each person as they left, even when she was weak – we would get a chair so she could serve at her post. One of the church members said her title should be “Faithful” She was faithful to her family, her church, and most of all to God.
A virtuous woman indeed!
She fought a good fight – she kept the faith and Dec 7 at 2:31 AM–
I believe she heard the words – well done thou good and faithful servant – Welcome Home!!
Pallbearers will be Justin Armstrong, Ethan Armstrong, Justin Crawford, William Guerrero, Chace Traweek, and Dallas Thompson.
