It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of JoAnn Burns, our beloved sister, mother, MawMaw, and friend, who finished this life faithfully on February 23, 2025, at 91 years of age. She passed peacefully in the comfort of her home in Fosters, AL, surrounded by loved ones.
JoAnn was born on November 6, 1933, in Peterson, AL, to Arthur and Margaret Jones. She made her choice to serve God at an early age, along with her husband, Maurice Burns, and always kept an open home for meetings. She was known for her exquisite Southern cooking skills, talents in china painting and porcelain doll-making, and enjoyed sewing clothing for her beloved grandchildren, complete with special heirloom touches.
JoAnn is survived by her sons, Michael (Debbie) and Bobby (Sherry); her sister, Mary; her brothers, JD and Donnie; her grandchildren, Jaime (Wisam) Jennifer, Bradley (Bre), Wesley, and Cody; and her great-grandchildren, Sienna and Chase.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Maurice Burns; parents, Arthur and Margaret Jones; and siblings, Curtis, Earnest, Ronnie, Tommy, and Bonnie.
Although no longer with us in body, JoAnn's faithful spirit, quick wit and love of her family will continue to influence all of those blessed to have known her.
