Joanna Lyle Jackson, age 91, of Tuscaloosa, AL, died December 10, 2021, at Riverside Senior Living in Decatur, Alabama. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11:00 AM at Heritage Chapel Funeral Home & Cremations, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow service with Cathy Hoop of Grace Presbyterian Church and Ronnie Dockery officiating.
Joanna Lyle Jackson was preceded in death by her husband Robert Hall Jackson; her father and mother, Johnnie D. Lyle and Katie Belle Lyle; and her three her brothers, Arthur Frank Lyle, William Larkus Lyle, and James Lyle.
Survivors include her daughters: Julia Ann Jackson Lamont (James), Sandra Carol Jackson Harris (Thomas); grandchildren: Paul Lamont (Ashley), Anna Marie Lamont Schorr ( Adam), John Albert Lamont, Robert T. Harris (Bethany), Laura Harris Horton (Joel); great grandchildren: Emily Schorr, Joel Schorr, Jacob Schorr, Thomas Lamont, James Paul Lamont, Annalise Harris, Elliott Harris, Andrew Horton, Aubrey Horton, and many nieces and nephews.
Joanna was born at home in Holt , Alabama on October 28, 1930. She graduated from Holt High School in 1949. Joanna married Robert Hall Jackson on August 19, 1949. She was employed at Gibson’s Beauty Shop for ten years in late 1960’s and early 1970’s. She later worked at Bryant Dining Hall for 19 years as a food supervisor where the Alabama Football team lived. She enjoyed her employment at Bryant Dining Hall serving and planning meals for players of “Bear” Bryant through Gene Stallings. She was proud to be an Alabama Super Fan!
Joanna attended Covenant Presbyterian Church where she participated in the Meals on Wheels program for many years.
Pallbearers will be Paul Lamont, John Lamont, Adam Schorr, Robert Harris, Andy Lyle, Ken Lyle, Bart Lyle, and Jim Lyle.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Meals on Wheels at Grace Presbyterian Church, Tuscaloosa, AL.
The family would like to extend special appreciation to the doctors, nurses, and caregivers of Forest Manor Nursing Home in Northport, AL, Riverside Senior Living in Decatur, AL, Decatur Home Care, and Hospice of the Valley in Decatur, AL. We also appreciate the compassionate care she received from Dr. Robert Allen of Decatur, AL.
