John David Faulkner

John David Faulkner, age 90, of Northport, Alabama passed away on February 28, 2026 at Heritage Health Care and Rehab. A Graveside Service will be held on Friday, March 6, 2026 at 2:00 pm with Terry Joe Oswalt at Memory Hill Gardens. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at Memory Chapel Funeral Home.

John is preceded in death by his father, William Clay Faulkner; mother, Apsie C. Faulkner; first wife and mother of his children, Melba Faulkner; second wife, Polly Pugh Faulkner; son, Barry L. Faulkner; granddaughter, Maci Alexis Faulkner; 2 brothers; 2 sisters.

He is survived by his daughter, Donna F. Pate (Randall); son, David Faulkner (Paula); stepsons, Randy Pugh (Angie), David Pugh; grandchildren, Sara Porter (Stephen), DJ Faulkner (Amber), Brandi Weaver (Caleb), Hannah Allen (Nick), Chasidy Rice, Chelsea Faulkner; great grandchildren, Brylan, Madisyn, Josie, Ty, Joey, Elizabeth, Emmie, Elliot, John Fisher, Jace, Joelle.

John was born in Kosciusko, Mississippi in 1935. His family moved to Tuscaloosa in 1949. He married his first wife, the mother of his children, in 1956. They moved to Northport where he and Melba raised their children. He remained on Earl Fields Circle through the death of Melba and lived there until his health started to decline in 2024. During the years after Melba died, he met and married Polly Pugh. He and Polly enjoyed 38 years together traveling and seeing many states of the US abroad. His hobbies included hunting and fishing. John's grandson Keith was his hunting buddy, and Keith took great care to ensure John was set up in the shooting house for the day. His last deer killed was at the age of 89. He loved his family and always made sure to let them know. He will be greatly missed.

Pallbearers will be DJ Faulkner, Brylan Faulkner, Keith Pugh, Tanner Pugh, Matthew Pugh, Caleb Weaver, Nick Allen, Stephen Porter.

Honorary pallbearers are Dr. William Hill, Dr. Kimberly Hillman, DCH 6SE staff, Heritage Health Care and Rehab, all other physicians that cared for him.
