John Kenney Walters

John Kenney Walters, age 79 of Tuscaloosa, Alabama passed away on April 28, 2025 at home. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 1, 2025 at Memory Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Joseph Morrison officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Gardens. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

John is preceded in death by his parents, John B. and Lola Walters; brother, Billy Walters; half-sisters, Gertrude Hallman (Morky), Edna Gilstrap (Henry); half- brothers, Jim Walters (Vista), Clydie Walters (Merle).

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Dinah Walters; daughters, Jackie Williams (Tony), Lynn Jones; son, Jeff Walters; sister, Shirley Mitchum (Charles); nephews, Ronnie Mitchum, Edward Mitchum; niece, Doris Van Auken (Hugh); grandchildren, Dillon Williams (Bailey), Kelsey Gomez (Chris), Nic Jones, Xander Jones; great grandson, Issac Gomez.

John loved taking care of his home place and his family. He was always willing to help others and was a mentor to many. He graduated from Tuscaloosa County High School in 1964. John worked at Bryce Hospital Bakery, Northport Fire Department, BF Goodrich Tire Plant for 30+ years and DCH Regional Medical Center as a Security Officer. His kids, grandchildren and great grandson were his pride and joy. He was a member of Unity Baptist Church. He loved God and his church family.

Pallbearers will be Dillion Williams, Xander Jones, Chris Gomez, Robert (Nun) Long, Wade Morrison, Robert Beck, Tim Hitt, Tim Ingram. Honorary pallbearers are members of Unity Baptist Church, past and present BF Goodrich employees, U of A Event Staff, Southern Care New Beacon Hospice, Dr. Scott Kemp, Dr. Mohammad Azam. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Unity Baptist Church Building Fund.
