Joseph Howard Allen, Sr., age 64, died December 14, 2016 at DCH Regional Medical Center. Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, December 17, 2016 at Memory Chapel with Dolan Davis officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Gardens. Visitation will be Friday, December 16, 2016 from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home with Memory Chapel Funeral Home & Cremations, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing.He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Loretta Allen; sister, Marilyn Broughton; and brother, Carl Allen.Survivors include his wife, Pamela Allen; daughters, Jennifer Scruggs (Steven), Brittany Thomas (Seth) and Megan Adams (Cody); son, Joseph Allen II (Chassity Channell); sister, Cathy Pate (Joe Mac); brother, Ronnel Pasley (Geraldine); special parents-in-law, Carl and Wareline Crenshaw; and grandchildren, Levi Thomas and Sawyer Thomas.Joe grew up in Tuscaloosa and graduated from Holt High School. He served his country as a part of the United States Air Force for 20 years and traveled the world. After retiring he worked at the United States Postal Service until he retired from there in July 2014. Since then, he has enjoyed spending his time redecorating his home, raising his grandchildren and relaxing with his wife, children and dogs.He loved going to church and lived for the Lord. Joe touched the life of everyone he came in contact with and there was definitely never a dull moment when he was around.Pallbearers will be Chris David, Roger Graham, Don Nelson, Harry Stone, Mike Britain and Kenn Spencer.Honorary pallbearers are Bill Matthews, Bill Wright, David Harding and Staff; the nursing staff of 2-Southeast and 3rd floor MICU at DCH Regional Medical Center TCL, Mary Mitchell; The Ferral Wyatt Sunday School class of Valley View Baptist Church; Dr. William and Teresa Wright.In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to Valley View Baptist Church or the American Cancer Society.
