Joseph Tant Sr.

Joseph Edward Tant, Sr., age 57, of Brookwood, died Jan. 9, 2011, in Tuscaloosa. Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Holy Spirit Catholic Church with Rev. John Fallon officiating. Burial will follow in Tuscaloosa Memorial Park with Memory Chapel Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be Thursday night from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

He was preceded in death by his son, Joseph E. Tant, Jr; his father, Joseph G. Tant; his mother, Kathryn P. Mitchell; and his stepfather, Mark S. Mitchell.

Survivors include his wife, Molly Shirley Tant of Tuscaloosa; a daughter, Krissy Tant; two sons, Michael Adam Tant (Suzie) and James Andrew Tant; a sister, Cecelia Thompson (Mike); a stepsister, Phyllis Ryan; brothers, Robert Tant (Kathy), Jim Tant (Janis), David Tant, and John Tant (Susan); stepbrothers: Sonny Ryan (Brenda) and Ken Ryan (Cindy); his stepmother, Mae D. Tant; and grandchildren, Joshua Koster, Hunter Watkins, Olivia Watkins, and Alex Tant.

He was the owner of Tant Construction.

Pallbearers will be his brothers, Robert Tant, Jim Tant, David Tant, and John Tant; nephews, Chris Tant, Michael Tant, and David Tant; and Josh Jones.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Holy Spirit Catholic Church Building Fund, 733 James I Harrison Pkwy., Tuscaloosa, AL 35405.
