June P. Shirley

June P. Shirley, 87, of Tuscaloosa, AL, passed away on October 12, 2025. She was born June 19, 1938 to Raymond Paul and Leslie Williams Phares. She was the older of two children. She is predeceased by her parents, husband, Jerry C. Shirley USMC (Ret.), sister, Toby Gail Morton, and daughter, Sandra Shirley Logan. She is survived by her sons, David (Carol) Shirley, Brad Shirley, 7 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren.

June graduated from Tuscaloosa High School in 1956. June was married to Jerry Shirley for 66 years. Having passed away only 4 months apart, they are reunited in heaven.

June was a steadfast Marine Corps wife. She frequently moved with her family for many years while they were stationed at numerous Marine Corps bases. June saw many wonderful and exotic places in her travels. She even spent two years in Bangkok Thailand, where her youngest son was born. After Jerry retired from the Marine Corps, she worked at the Office of Broadcast and Film with the University of Alabama.

June was a very loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She always enjoyed spending time with her family. She was known to always be reading her Bible in her spare time.

The funeral service will be held Tuesday, October 28, at Memory Chapel Funeral home, 2200 Skyland Blvd. East, Tuscaloosa, AL 35405. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am, followed by Funeral Service at 11:00 am. Pallbearers will include Matthew Glenn Shirley, Eric Shirley, Alex Shirley, Allen Shirley, Keith Shirley, and Joe Bob Whitt.
