

Kathy Fowler Burnette, age 75, of Northport, Alabama, peacefully entered her heavenly home on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at Hospice of West Alabama. She was born on April 13, 1951, in Jefferson County, Alabama, to James Huey Fowler and Beatrice Spiller Fowler.
Kathy attended Tuscaloosa County schools and graduated from Tuscaloosa County High. She graduated from the University of Alabama School of Social Work with her with her bachelor's degree in social work. She served as a social worker for the State of Alabama for over 30 years, working at Partlow Hospital, Indian River's Mental Health, and Children's Rehabilitation Service. She retired and enjoyed sharing time with Jerry at their beach condo and most recently on road trips in their RV.
She was preceded in death by her precious sons, Jerry Nathaniel (Nathan) Burnette and Matthew Douglas Burnette; her parents, James Huey and Beatrice Spiller Fowler; her sister, Judy Fowler Burroughs; and her brother-in-law, Michael R. (Mike) Burroughs.
She leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband of 49 years, Jerry Douglas Burnette; her son, Timothy Scott Burnette (Ryan Andrews); her niece, Susan Burroughs Miles (Jason); her nephew, Michael Fowler Burroughs (Elizabeth), her great nieces, Ellie Morgan Miles Boxer (Alec), Lilly Catherine Miles, Emma Elizabeth Burroughs, Mollee Jo Burroughs; her great nephew, Landon Michael Burroughs, a host of special family members, and her dog children, Willa and Simeon Peter.
She was a faithful and active member of First Baptist Church in Tuscaloosa. Her Life Group was so special to her, and she enjoyed friendships she dearly cherished. Kathy loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and trusted and prayed for His plan for her life. She is healed and rejoicing with her loved ones today. While we will miss her everyday, we have the peace and assurance that we will be reunited with her.
Pallbearers will be Alec Boxer, Wes Perry, Ronnie Whitaker, Phillip Maxwell, John Hogue, and Phillip Lee. Honorary pallbearers are Darla Perry, Shirley Whitaker, Pam Maxwell, Peggy Hogue, Teresa Bergob, Richard and Ellen Drummond, Nancy Pennington, Ken and Rita Richardson, Bonnie Burt, Patsy Kennedy, Linda Holman, the John Hogue Life Group at First Baptist Church.
A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, July 22, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel at First Baptist Church in Tuscaloosa with Dr. Drew Chapman officiating. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Tuscaloosa Memorial Park.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude for the love, prayers, and support shown during this time. A special thank you to Dr. John Warren and staff at Tuscaloosa Internal Medicine, the doctors and staff at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, and the wonderful nurses and staff at Hospice of West Alabama. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in her memory to First Baptist Church in Tuscaloosa or Hospice of West Alabama.
