Lavonia Calhoun Martin, age 82, of Tuscaloosa, died July 3, 2010. Services will be held Tuesday July 6, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Memory Chapel Funeral Home with Brother Bill Richards officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Gardens with Memory Chapel Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. She is preceded in death by her husband Fletcher Samuel Martin; parents, Masco Gayle and Verlie Mae Ryan Calhoun; sister, Freda Averette; brothers, Luther Calhoun and Jones Edward Calhoun. She is survived by sisters Jessie Fuller of Rome, Georgia and Shirley Ann Sluder of Marion, her daughters Lawana Payne (Buddy) of Moundville, Janet Anders (Danny) of Northport, Delores Cook (Sonny) of Tuscaloosa, sons Samuel Martin (Teresa) of Birmingham, Ricky Martin (Pattie) of Vance, Ronald Martin of Tuscaloosa, thirteen grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Grandsons. Honorary pallbearers are Cynthia Trawick, Kathy Horne, Stefanie Whitbeck and Dr. Jennifer Burdette. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that gifts be made to Amedisys Hospice Care of Tuscaloosa.
