Lenora was born in Windham Springs, Alabama on June 25, 1940 to the late Sidney Conner Davis and Zella Jean Willcutt Davis., and granddaughter to Joel Wilson Willcutt and Talitha Tranquillla (Trannie) Utley WIllcutt.
Mrs. McDonald is survived by her children, daughter Theresa M. McDonald and son, John L. McDonald Jr.
In 1959, Lenora graduated “Salutatorian” from Gorgas High School (Tuscaloosa County) and later from Shelton State Community College, in Tuscaloosa. She was retired from the City of Tuscaloosa after a great many years at the Tuscaloosa Municipal Airport.
Lenora was a very enthusiastic member of the Red Hat Society, “The Classy Lassies” and enjoyed their monthly luncheons. It brought her great joy to wear that big old red hat! She was also extremely proud of watching both of her children grow, work tremendously hard, and become Nurses to serve the public in God’s name. She enjoyed gardening, bird watching, her dogs and cat, and just “people-watching.”
Serving the Lord was always first in her life. Giving God praise was especially important to her. Knowing that He is the reason that we all have salvation.
Lenora was a devoted, loving wife to her late husband, John, and a dedicated mother to her children. She always reminded others that, “Compassion enriches everyone.” She wanted people to remember her as being a kind, compassionate friend, and a loving child of God who was ready to help anyone that she could in His name.
A private memorial service will be held at a later time by the family.
In lieu of flowers, Mrs. McDonald’s family asks that donations be made instead to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
Memory Chapel Funeral Home, A Dignity Memorial Provider, is honored to serve the McDonald family during their time of bereavement. Condolences and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.memorychapelfuneralhome.com
