
Lessie Naylor Channell, age 99, of Tuscaloosa, died March 5, 2013, at home. Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Heritage Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Steven Channell officiating. Burial will follow in Tuscaloosa Memorial Park with Heritage Chapel Funeral Home & Cremations, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Patton Channell; and her daughters, JoNell Burroughs and Dorothy Jones.
Survivors include two daughters, Charlene Patrick (Wayne) of Tuscaloosa and Sarah Gamble (John) of Huntsville; one son, James Ray Channell (Jean) of Tuscaloosa; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and son-in-law, Curtis Burroughs.
Mrs. Channell was a native of McNairy County, Tennessee and was a resident of Buhl, Ala., for many years. She was a member of Buhl Baptist Church and retired from Tuscaloosa County school food service.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Donaldson, David Patrick, Scott Channell, Allan Gamble, Taylor Grantham, and Ben Grantham.
The family wishes to thank Betty Williams and the Second Hand Rose Ministry of First Baptist Church, and the staffs of Amedisys and Hospice for their care.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Buhl Baptist Church.
