

Born in West Blocton, Alabama on September 10, 1936, to George W. Blake and Myrtice J. Blake, Lexie will be remembered for her love, kindness, compassion, generosity, wisdom, work ethic and endless energy. Growing up as a spirited country girl contributed to her lifelong love of nature and the outdoors. She often shared stories of her childhood escapades with siblings, cousins and friends. As a young adult Lexie moved to Tuscaloosa and started her career with Alabama Cripple Children's Service, later transferring to West Alabama Rehabilitation Service, where she retired. She moved to Demopolis in 2019 when her health began to decline. Lexie devoted her life to her family, always there with an encouraging smile, warm embrace, listening ear and willingness to help. Throughout the years, she enjoyed many hobbies such as dancing, gardening, volleyball, reading, daily walks and special card nights with friends.
Lexie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Jack Lancaster, siblings, George Blake Jr., John Blake, Bobbie Scarbrough and Robert Barton the father of her daughters.
Lexie is survived by her children, Debbie Barton Butler (Gary) and Sandy Barton Majure (Mike); grandchildren, Brooks Butler (Meg), Blake Butler (Brittany), Bart Butler (Katie), Michael Majure, Matthew Majure, Miles Majure; great grandchildren, Easton Butler, Lily Butler, Anna Brooks Butler, Berkeley Butler and Maggie Butler. She is also survived by Jack's children, Lynn Patton (Kirk), Pam Fondren (Randy) and Jeff Lancaster; grandchildren, Jordan Guy and Justin Patton; great grandchildren, Jonah Patton and McKenzie Patton.
Special gratitude is extended to Lexie's loving caretakers who have become like family, Andreanio Brown, Belinda Tucker, Torie Tucker, Lucy Harris, KeKey Wimes and to the SouthernCare New Beacon Hospice team for their skill, professionalism and compassion.
A private family service will be held at 11:00 am on Sunday, May 31, 2026 at Memory Chapel Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to S.A.L.T. (Senior Adults Living Triumphantly)- This volunteer-based program provides respite care for adults with mild to moderate memory loss. Checks can be mailed to Demopolis First United Church, 200 E. Decatur Street, Demopolis, AL 36732, or a charity of your choice.
Lexie was dedicated to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Throughout her life she was active in church, taught Sunday School, studied her Bible, lived and taught by example, and shared her faith with others. Her family finds comfort knowing she is now completely healed and rejoicing with Jesus.
