It is with deepest sorrow that the family of Linda I. Carver announces her passing. Linda, age 79, of Tuscaloosa, Alabama went home to be with the Lord the morning of September 2, 2026. She peacefully fell asleep at home on earth, and she joyously awoke in heaven.
Linda was born November 9, 1946 in Tuscaloosa to her late parents, Carl and Brazzie Ireland. She attended Holt High School, and married her high school sweetheart, Larry Carver. She worked at the Tuscaloosa News for over 40 years, retiring early to be home to take care of her family. She was a wife, Momma, Meme, daughter, niece, cousin, aunt, and a friend.
Linda is the kind of person that is impossible to sum up in just a few sentences. She devoted her life to Jesus and her family. She had a way of making everybody feel loved and at home whether through her million kilo-watt smile, her infectious giggle, or through something as simple as a glass of the best sweet tea. She made the house a home. She always had plenty to eat and a seat for anybody that wanted to join her table. She had the best sense of humor, and she loved to laugh. She loved cooking, sweet treats, pajamas, shoes, reading, pranks, Christmas, Hallmark movies, and music. Linda was smart, kind, clever, beautiful, and overall the most precious woman. She is loved ardently and will be missed dearly. No amount of time could have ever been enough with this beloved and cherished woman.
Linda is reunited with her loving parents, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and various other family members and friends. What a beautiful reunion they must have all had!
Linda is survived by her husband of 61 years, Larry Carver, her children Traci and Paul (Lacy), and her grandchildren Hannah, Lane, Cade, and Layla. She leaves behind many “adopted” children, cousins, nieces, nephews, and too many friends to count.
Friends can pay their respect and visit with the Carver family at Memory Chapel (220 Skyland E Blvd. Tuscaloosa, AL 35405) on Saturday, September 5th at 10 AM. The funeral service will follow directly at 11 AM. Her pallbearers are: Lane Carver, Cade Chandler, Kory Bryant, Brandon Allen, Josh Rushing, and Tommy Howton. In Linda’s honor and memory, donations can be made to Imagination Library to support her love of reading and children.
