Linda A. Cox

She is survived by her two sons, Darron Cox (Linda) and Russell Cox (Cindy); six grandchildren, Courtney Allen (Andrew), Jessica Kinard (Colby), Anna-Marie Stewart (Caleb), Jesse Cox (Kelly), Kalli Meigs (Joseph), and Makenzie Sievering; nine great-grandchildren, Emory, Ava, Reese, Harper, Mykah, Turner, Bryson, Sutton, and Lane; and sister, Brenda Dial (Eddie).

She was preceded in death by her parents, Matt and Bertha H. Arnold; her beloved husband, Jesse “PeeWee” Cox; and her siblings, Ruth Thompson, Flo Bailey, Shirley Lewis, Harold Arnold, and Norman Arnold.

Linda faithfully served the City of Brent as City Clerk for 35 years. She was also a devoted member of Brent Baptist Church, where she spent many years singing in the choir and was known for her beautiful voice.

Linda lived a life rooted in her unwavering love for the Lord and her family. Her faith guided how she lived and could be seen in the kindness, grace, and compassion she showed to everyone she met. She had a heart as big as anyone could imagine—selfless, giving, and always putting others before herself. Her 59-year marriage to her husband, Jesse, was a beautiful example of lifelong commitment, and the special bond and love they shared was evident to all who knew them.

Nothing brought Linda more joy than being surrounded by her family. She treasured holidays, family gatherings, and any opportunity to spend time with the people she cared about most. She had a special way of always making sure everyone was taken care of, no matter how big or small the need. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were one of the greatest joys of her life, and she rarely missed a chance to show up for the moments that mattered to them. She loved her family deeply and unconditionally, and they will forever cherish the countless memories made with her.

Services will be held at Brent Baptist Church on Monday, May 11, 2026 at 1:30 p.m. with visitation from 12 noon to 1:30 p.m. Burial will follow at Pineland Memorial.

Pallbearers are Andrew Allen, Michael Arnold, Troy Arnold, Jason Dial, Chris Giddiens, Colby Kinard, Joseph Meigs, and Caleb Stewart.
