Linda Allen Gilmore, 72 of Tuscaloosa passed away Sunday morning, April 5, 2020 at West Alabama Hospice. She was born November 27, 1947 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama to James and Mary Allen. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother and grandmother and a true friend to many who were blessed to know her.
Linda was a devoted member of the Primitive Baptist church throughout her life and fit Paul’s description of a faithful Christian woman in 1st Timothy: “Well reported of for good works; if she have brought up children, if she have lodged strangers, if she have washed the saints' feet, if she have relieved the afflicted, if she have diligently followed every good work.”
Her passing reminds us of the mixture of joys and sorrows we experience in this life. Sorrow from the loss of this dear sister, her kind and gentle smile and her enduring encouragement; joy from the knowledge that she now rests in her Savior’s arms. While she no longer treads this earthly realm, her memory remains to cheer and strengthen those who were blessed to know her.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Robert Gilmore; two children – Artie Gilmore (Rhonda) and Andrea Inabinett (Ed); five grandchildren – Jacob Beam (Kayla), Zachary Beam (Katy), Josh Gilmore, Beth Ann Gilmore and Sedena Gilmore; 13 great grandchildren; and one sister, Sandra Beck (Junior).
Memorial services will be held at Tuscaloosa Primitive Baptist Church on April 8th at 10:00 am followed by a graveside service at Memory Hill Gardens, Elder Craig Blair presiding. Due to restrictions related to the COVID-19 virus, only family members are allowed to attend services.
