Loretta Burt McCrory

Loretta Burt McCrory, age 84, of Tuscaloosa, died Thursday, March 12, 2015 at Hamrick Highlands Assisted Living. Services will be 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 14, 2015 at Memory Chapel with Jimmy Garner officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Hill Gardens with Memory Chapel Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the chapel. She was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, James H. (Buck) McCrory; a great-grandson, Kent Aday; and her parents.Survivors include her daughters, Kay McCrory Kitchens (Dave) of Tuscaloosa, and Pam McCrory Sewell (Dave) of Tuscaloosa; grandchildren, Aimee Kitchens Aday (Ken), Gregory D. Kitchens (Kelli), Loran Sewell Richards (Lee); and seven great-grandchildren.She was a member of Skyland Blvd. Baptist Church for 49 years, and a devoted Christian who loved the Lord. She taught Sunday school pre-school for 50 years, where 29 of those years she dedicated herself to the beloved children of Skyland Blvd. Baptist Church. She was an avid seamstress and loved making heirloom smocked clothing for her children and grandchildren.Pallbearers will be her grandson, Greg Kitchens, grandson-in-law, Ken Aday, Davis Culp, James Smothers, Jim Grubbs, and David Lawrence.Honorary pallbearers are Skyland Blvd. Baptist Church members, Springhill Lake neighbors, Ruth Sunday school class, Mrs. Bobbye Holcomb, Mrs. Patsy Lawrence, Mrs. Gil Sentell, Mrs. Sandra Smothers, Dr. Brian Wilhite, Greg and Susan Hamrick, the nurses and staff of Hamick Highlands, and nurses and staff of Hospice of West Alabama.In lieu of flowers the family wishes donations be made to Hospice of West Alabama.
