Margaret D. Adams, age 89, of Tuscaloosa, died Feb. 6, 2011, at home. Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Memory Chapel Funeral Home with Ron McKay and Tony Barber officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Gardens with Memory Chapel Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William A. and Mattie Davidson; son, William F. Adams; sister, Doris Williams; and husband, Ollie Frank Adams.
Survivors include her daughters, Frances Gayle Stevenson (John) of Tuscaloosa and Margaret Amelia Farmer (Jack) of Hoover; sons, David Boyd Adams (Jane) of Homewood and Thomas Randall Adams (Jean) of Columbiana; a brother, William Almon Davidson, Jr. of Tampa, Fla.; grandchildren, Alexander Scott Campbell of Yellowstone National Park, Wyo., Rebecca Kyle Baker (David) of Cleveland, David Boyd Adams, Jr. of Birmingham, Leah Gayle Hand (Colby) of McCalla, Amber Jean Adams of Maylene, Patrick Devin Early of Hoover, Amy Carol Smith (David) of Steele, Glenda Beth Stevenson of Tuscaloosa, and Scott Stevenson (Christie) of Steele; and great-grandchildren, Logan, Savannah, Madison, Amelia, Phenix, Hannah, Ethan, Dillon, Nicole, T.J., Kayley, Emma, and Madison.
Mrs. Adams was born in Toxey, Ala., and grew up in York, Ala. She married Frank Adams, a WWII soldier, and lived in Tuscaloosa, Ala., and raised four children. She moved to Birmingham, Ala., and lived there for over 41 years. She was involved in the Eastern Star, was a Cub Scout mother, and had many friends and family.
Pallbearers will be Scott Campbell, David Adams, Jr., Colby Hand, Scott Stevenson, T.J. Yancy, and Jim Williams.
Honorary pallbearers are Clint McEntyre, M.D.; Cornelius Sullivan, M.D.; Northport Medical Center-DCH; Rehabilitation Pavilion Center; and Hospice of West Alabama. Many thanks go to all physicians, respiratory specialists, nursing staff, rehab staff, and hospice staff for their love and care.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital .
