Margaret Peggy Howell

Margaret Howell, age 80, of Tuscaloosa, died September 3, 2015, at DCH Regional Medical Center. Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday September 8, 2015, at Memory Chapel Funeral Home with Dr. Carl Wells and Dr. Gil McKee officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Gardens with Memory Chapel Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.She was preceded in death by her parents, Allen Clayton Humphries and Estelle Brown Humphries, formerly of Anniston, Ala.She is survived by her husband, Roy Lee Howell of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; sons, Richard Allen Howell (Tina) of Cottondale, Ala., Bryan Keith Howell (Tammy) of Echola, Ala., and Michael Shannon Howell of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; sisters, Dorothy Spearman of Gaylesville, Ala. and Juanita Haver; brother, Felix Humphries of Anniston, Ala.; and grandchildren, Laken Rae Howell, Bailey Keith Howell, and Clayton Allen Howell.Margaret was born in Anniston, Alabama, in 1935. She married her childhood sweetheart, Roy, in 1956. Together they raised three boys in Tuscaloosa, Ala. She retired after 25 years as a registrar with the University of Alabama. While at the university, she earned her Bachelor's Degree. She was a long time member of the First Baptist Church in Tuscaloosa, Alabama and the Chapel Sunday School Class.Pallbearers will be Bill Boyd, John Myers, Grady Friday, Jim Abernathy, Tommy Spencer, and Emmery Ryan. Honorary pallbearers are members of the Chapel Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church in Tuscaloosa.In lieu of flowers, donations may be offered to First Baptist Church in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
