Marjorie Alice Jones

HOLT | Marjorie Jones, age 94, of Holt, died September 24, 2015, at DCH Regional Medical Center. Services will be 11 a.m. Monday, September 28, 2015 at Heritage Chapel with Rev. Charles Herron officiating. Burial will follow in Tuscaloosa Memorial Park with Heritage Chapel Funeral Home, A Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to service at Heritage Chapel Funeral Home.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George Jones; and her daughter, Mary George Bircheat; and her parents, Monroe and Willie Howell.

Survivors include her daughters, Julia Ann Blackwell (Wayne) of Huntsville, Jan Buck of Tuscaloosa, Kathey Payne of Monroe, Ga. and Jennifer Clay (Raymond); son, David H. Jones, of Cottondale; grandchildren, Lark Payne, Amy Blackwell, Abby Thompson, Anna Blackwell, Ashley Blackwell, David Buck and Cory Jones.

She was raised in Cottondale and has lived in the Holt community for 60 plus years. One of “The Greatest Generation”, a quiet woman with a strong ethic, she loved ALL of her family unconditionally; sharing what was hers to give with purpose and conviction.

Pallbearers will be Austin Buck, Eddie Atkins, Phillip Colburn, Tommy Colvin, Phillip Guy and Cory Jones.

Honorary pallbearers are Gaba Jones, Tyler Buck, Morri Morrison and Mike Mitchell.
