OBITUARY

Mark Nelson Eason

October 6, 1961January 28, 2012

Mark Nelson Eason, age 50, of Tuscaloosa, died Jan. 28, 2012, at DCH Regional Medical Center. Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Memory Chapel Funeral Home with Gerald Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery in Cropwell, Ala. with Memory Chapel Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, James and Celestial Yates, and Cleatus and Mildred Eason.

Survivors include his wife, Janice Patricia Ensley Eason of Tuscaloosa; sister, Tracey Eason Hester; parents, Nelson and Peggy Eason; nephews, Dylan Nelson Hester and David Rece Hester; goddaughter, Emma Gray Schaetzle; as well as many other friends and relatives.

Mark Eason was born in Birmingham, Ala. on October 6, 1961. In 1972, his family moved to the Chicago, Ill. area, where Mark went on to graduate from high school and college. On election night, 1986, Mark relocated to Tuscaloosa. Mark was introduced to Janice Ensley in January, 1991, and within only two weeks they knew they wanted to marry. Feb. 14, 2012, would have been their 20th anniversary. Mark looked for the good in everyone, or rather, he always assumed it was already there. He never looked for ulterior motives, he never met a stranger, and he could always find common ground with the people he met.

Mark loved a good book, a good conversation, good food, and most of all, his family. He truly had the heart of a servant. Mark wholeheartedly supported his wife in every endeavor, large or small. They were rarely seen apart.

Janice's words of farewell: "Marky, my best friend, I will miss and love you forever. I was the 'Piglet' to your 'Pooh.'

Pallbearers will be Mike Schaetzle, Chip Brinyark, Dave Heggem, Phil Roach, Stephen Roach, Roger Patterson, Jim Yates, and Bro. Ensley of Northwood Church of Christ.

Honorary pallbearers are University Church of Christ, staff on 2nd and 3rd floor DCH ICUs, and all of the physicians that cared for Mark.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Humane Society of West Alabama-Tuscaloosa and Tuscaloosa Library.

Janice, Praying for you as you grieve this tremendous loss. You honored Mark well yesterday. What precious memories of a good and kind man. A friend forwarded this yesterday and I am passing on to you and your family. "However, as it is written: 'What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived' - the things God has prepared for those who love him - " 1 Corinthians 2:9.

I remember Mark as a little boy, like the picture of him and Tracey in June's living room (how cute). Haven't has contact over the years, but Nelson and Peggy, I remember you both so very fondly, as with all the Eason family. I share your grief at this difficult time, and know God will hold your hand as you begin to heal.
