Marva Jean Maddox Davis, age 62, a cherished mother, sister, aunt, friend, and devoted woman of faith, peacefully entered eternal rest on July 22, 2025, in Northport, Alabama. She was born on November 2, 1962, in Birmingham, AL, to the late John D. Maddox and Rev. Maude Snyder Maddox.
A celebration of life for Marva will be held Saturday, August 2, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Memory Chapel Funeral Home, 2200 Skyland Blvd East, Tuscaloosa, Alabama 35405.
As the eldest of three siblings, Marva naturally stepped into the role of protector and problem solver. She offered wisdom with grace and guidance with love, always standing as a steady presence for those around her. Her life was a beautiful portrait of devotion—to her family, her work, and her faith.
Marva deeply loved her children and grandchildren, found pure joy in music and dancing, and had a special place in her heart for her beloved dogs. She dedicated over 25 years to a fulfilling career with State Farm Insurance, where her professionalism, compassion, and warm spirit left a lasting impression on countless lives. In addition to being an insurance agent, she cherished the countless children that she transported for over 8 years for Tuscaloosa City Schools and she played a vital role in building the transportation business she and her husband, Amos, started together—faithfully wearing many hats and contributing to its success with passion and purpose.
Marva accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age and remained a faithful member of Hightown Community Church until her health began to decline. Her joyful spirit, generous heart, and quiet strength were felt by all who knew her. Her legacy of love, faith, and strong family bonds will live on through the lives she touched.
She was preceded in death by her father John Maddox, mother Rev. Maude Snyder Maddox, sister Ruby Stevenson and her granddaughter Akira Davis-Gaines.
Marva leaves to cherish her memory: Her loving husband of 46 years, Amos Davis Sr.; her children, Erica King (Leonaroldio) and Amos Davis Jr. (Malaya); her siblings, Pearlie Maddox, Marjorette Davis, and Dr. Johnnie Quiller (Hubert); grandchildren, Journee Davis-King, Ty Johnson-Davis, Leonaroldio King Jr. and Karalyn King; nieces, Carolyn Maddox, Sherry Maddox, Hilary Maddox, Laquitha King (Micky) , and Stephania Davis; nephews, Derick Maddox, Sr. (Keisha), Lamar Cannon, Joshua Quiller and Justus Quiller; and her mother-in-law Dorothy Norwood (Tommie), along with many in-laws, great-nieces, great-nephews, extended family, church members, and a host of dear friends who will forever hold her memory in their hearts.
Marva was a model of strength, compassion, and wisdom. Though our hearts are heavy, we rejoice in knowing that she now rests in the arms of her Savior—free from pain and full of peace. She fought a good fight, finished her course, and kept the faith.
“Well done, good and faithful servant.” – Matthew 25:23
