Mary Ann Hathcock, age 88, of Northport, Alabama peacefully passed away with friends by her side at Hospice of West Alabama on Thursday January 11, 2024. Graveside services on Monday January 15, 2024 at 1 p.m. celebrated her life with Brother Alan Roggli officiating and Memory Chapel Funeral Home directing.
Mrs. Hathcock was preceded in death by her husband Hamrick Hathcock, sons Hillman and Paul Hathcock, father John Souza, Jr. and mother Annie Sang, her brothers John Souza, Manuel Souza, and William Souza and sister Teresa Nawahine and her much loved friend Lynn Cabaniss.
She is survived by son Bil Souza of Hawaii, brother-in-law James Hathcock of Maplesville, sisters-in-law Artie Palmer of Dallas, TX, and Carol Zambrotta of Selma, Alabama, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins in both Alabama and Hawaii, and close friends Ralph and Sheila Cabaniss of Northport.
Born and raised on the Island of Maui, Ann met and married Hamrick “Ham” Hathcock, who was serving at that time with the U.S. Navy. They remained faithfully married for nearly 50 years before his passing in 2004, living most of that time in Northport, Alabama. Her last few years she resided at Crimson Village Assisted Living in Tuscaloosa where she made many friends.
Honorary pallbearers include Doctor Jeffry Laubenthal, CRNP Lacey Quarles and Staff of West Alabama Family Practice, Dr. Monica Bui and attending nurses at DCH Tuscaloosa and the nurses and staff of Hospice of West Alabama,
A graveside service for Mary will be held Monday, January 15, 2024 at 1:00 PM at Memory Hill Gardens, 2200 Skyland Blvd East, Tuscaloosa, Alabama 35405.
