Mary Pope

A Graveside Service will be held at Memory Hill Gardens, 2200 Skyland Blvd East, Tuscaloosa, Alabama 35405, on July 21, 2026, from 1:30 pm to 2:00 pm.

Born on January 19, 1943, in Murray, Utah, Mary lived a life marked by kindness, faith, and unwavering devotion to her family. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend whose greatest joy was spending time with those she loved.

Mary was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Lawrence Pope; her parents, Floyd and Mary Gardner; her daughter, Valerie Robbins; her son, Kent Robbins; and her brothers, Joseph Gardner, William Gardner, Stephan Gardner, and Michael Gardner.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her daughter, Mary (Jim) Butterworth, along with her grandchildren, Elliott Robbins (Candice), Jonathan Pollock (Aliza Pennington), and Terry Pollock, (Leslie Knoyer). She was also blessed with great-grandchildren, Mary Emma Robbins, Oscar Pollock, Benjamin Robbins, Harvey Pollock, and Anna Grace Robbins, who brought immeasurable joy to her life.

Mary's family and friends will remember her for her gentle spirit, warm smile, compassionate heart, and steadfast faith. She found strength and comfort through her membership in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and her life reflected the love and service she freely gave to others.

Serving as pallbearers: Jim Butterworth, Elliott Robbins, Terry Pollock, John Stevens, Benjamin Engleman, and Greg Benner.

The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to the dedicated caregivers of ProHealth Home Health & Hospice, Dr. Benjamin Pearce, Dr. Dawn Bryant, Dr. Pamela Hughes, Dr. Curtis Tucker, Wanda Brown, the neighbors and friends from McDaniel Arms Apartments, Leigh Ann Martin, Janet Lewis, Jan Hutchinson, Marlene Stevens, Sue Slezak and the many brothers and sisters of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. A special thank you for your love, care, support, kindness, and bringing joy to our mother and grandmother throughout her journey.

Mary's legacy of love, faith, and family will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Though she will be deeply missed, her memory will forever be treasured.
