

Mary Pierce Yerby, age 88, of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, passed away on April 18, 2026. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Friday, April 24, 2026 in Memory Hill Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at Memory Chapel.
Mary was born on January 9, 1938, in Gordo, Alabama, to the late Winnie Ball Pierce and Robert Riley Pierce. She lived a life marked by deep faith, loving service, and devotion to her family.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Charles R. Yerby, with whom she shared a lifetime of love, ministry, and cherished memories. She also leaves behind her four children, Dianne Yerby Morris (Jerry), Chuck Yerby (Lisa), Mitch Yerby (Cindy), Jeremy Yerby, as well as a very special niece, Linda Landrum (Rob). Mary was a proud grandmother, fondly known as Meme, to nine grandchildren: DJ Guy (Allison), Danielle Moeller (Karl), Lauren Barger (David), Landon Yerby (Caleigh), Kayla Nolen (Preston), Austin Yerby, Jasper Yerby, Justice Yerby, and Stormie Yerby; and a loving great-grandmother to nine great-grandchildren.
Mary was a longtime member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church, where she faithfully served and remained active throughout her life. Her love for the Lord was evident in all she did. She had a strong and unwavering faith in Jesus Christ and spent much of her time studying scripture and serving others.
She found great joy in participating in mission trips alongside her husband and dear friends, Jim and Anita Headley, and she had a deep love for travel and fellowship. Mary also had a special place in her heart for children. Through her work at Calvary Baptist Daycare, she lovingly cared for babies and young children, leaving a lasting impact on countless families.
Mary enjoyed playing the dulcimer, often alongside her husband and friends, filling her home with music and joy. She was also known for her love of cooking and her selfless nature—always making sure everyone else was served before she ever sat down to eat.
Mary will be remembered for her gentle spirit, servant’s heart, and steadfast faith. Her legacy of love, kindness, and devotion to her family and her Lord will continue to live on in all who knew her.
