Melvin B Cork

Born November 18, 1937 in Greene County, AL to the late Clanton and Azilee Cork. In his younger years he enjoyed fishing, swimming, skating and other hobbies. He served his country, while enlisted in the US Army National Guard actively for 12 years. He retired from Greene County after 42 years of service, and also enjoyed working for Warrior Academy for over 20 years. A Baptist by faith, he was a longtime member of Shiloh Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon for many years. Melvin was a man of few words, he had a quiet nature, but still had a great sense of humor and a heart full of love. He was passionate about helping others when he could. In his golden years, he enjoyed working in his yard, gardening and fixing things.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one son Rodney Cork, one grandson Ricky Miller, and brothers Ferrell Cork and Judson Cork.

Mr. Cork is survived by his soulmate, his wife of 57 years, Patricia J. Cork of Eutaw, daughter Pamela (Mike) Miller of Tuscaloosa, daughter in law Tina Cork, brother Jimmy (Becky) Cork, grandchildren: Brianna (Josh) Williford, Hunter Garrity, Will Cork and Courtney (Lee) Brame, and great grandchildren: Bo Brame and Anna Winston Brame.

Serving as Active Pallbearers will be: Tyler Walker, Hunter Garrity, Joshua Williford, Will Cork, Mike Miller, Evan Cork and Ben Characters. The family wishes to recognize the Deacons of Shiloh Baptist Church, Amedisys Hospice, and special nurse Nickie Hammonds, RN as Honorary Pallbearers.

A Celebration of Melvin’s Life, will be held on Friday, August 20, 2021 at Shiloh Baptist Church, with visitation from 10-11am and Funeral Services immediately following at 11am. Services will be officiated by Bro. Gary McCracken and Bro. Dan Arsenault, and under the direction of Memory Chapel, a Dignity Memorial provider. Burial, with Military Honors will immediately follow from Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery.
