DUNCANVILLE – Melvin Douglas Tunnell, age 87, of Duncanville, Ala., died June 12, 2018, at home. Services will be 3 p.m. Saturday, June 16, 2018, at Memory Chapel Funeral Home with Ray Hallman officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Gardens with Memory Chapel Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home. He was preceded in death by his parents, Nelson and Mary Tunnell; son, Steve Tunnell; grandson, Michael Jones; two sisters; and four brothers. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Geneva Tunnell; daughters, Carol Yancey (Danny), Beverly Jones (Mickey) and Robin Beasley (Joey); one sister; one brother; seven grandchildren; and fourteen great-grandchildren. Melvin was a welder for over 50 years. He was a member of The Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 372 in Tuscaloosa, Ala. He attended Duncanville Baptist Church. Melvin served in the National Guard and United States Army from 1949 to 1953. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Cook, Marlon Cook, Steven Tunnell, Adam Davis, Nicholas Beasley and Kaleb Davis. Honorary pallbearers are Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 372.
