

Milon Ray Shaw, age 87, of Tuscaloosa, died Sept. 6, 2011, at home. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Memory Hill Gardens with Rev. Dan Kilgore officiating and Memory Chapel Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Christine Brewer Shaw; his son, Terry Eugene Shaw; his parents, James Belten and Annie Maude Shaw; and his brothers, Albert Shaw of Northport, Benson Shaw, and Selmar Shaw of Millport.
Survivors include his daughters, Marsha D. Shaw of Cottondale and Margene Shaw Hinton (Mike) of Tuscaloosa; his son, Max Elliott Shaw (Angela) of Tuscaloosa; his brother, John Shaw of Millport; and his grandchildren, Joshua B. Hinton, Jennifer D. Hinton, Benjamin E. Shaw, and Radley E. Shaw, all of Tuscaloosa.
Mr. Shaw was born in Millport, Alabama on Sept. 7, 1923, and was raised in Lamar County. He enlisted in the Army and served in World War II in the European Theater, including the Battle of the Bulge. He married Christine Brewer and raised four children in the Tuscaloosa area. He completed technical school in carpentry and worked in the construction industry until he retired. An avid gardener, he raised produce every summer with family and friends until his health made it impossible. He loved hunting, fishing, and being outdoors, and belonged to Greene County Hunting Club for a number of years. He will be greatly missed by family and friends and his cat, Buddy.
Honorary pallbearers are members of Greene County Hunting Club, employees of Saunders Construction Co., friends and neighbors of Cedar Knoll, Yolandia Eubanks, Billy Nelson, Woodrow Spencer, Fleet Swindle, and Billy Wilson.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the charity of one's choice.
