Monroe Cullen Williams as a retired Steel Mill worker, a retired coal miner, and a pastor of several churches for over 51 years. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and a friend. How do you sum up the life of a man who was so greatly loved and admired by so many?
Cullen was such a loving and caring man. He was the type of person who would take you in if you didn't have a place to stay. If you were hungry, you had a place at his table. If you needed something to wear, he would be the first to say, "Here, let me help you." Cullen was a caretaker; he took care of everyone and saw to their needs about everything. I have never met anyone with such a fierce and unconditional love for his family and friends.
As much as he loved the people around him, he loved the Lord more. As far back as can be remembered, Cullen had a fire in him for Jesus. It was his mission to make certain every single soul in his presence knew of the love of Christ. It wasn't enough that people JUST knew about God's love; he would pray for and spend time with each person. He, along with some of his friends, had a Bible ministry where they shipped Bibles overseas to so many people who might not have the opportunity to receive God's Word. He loved revivals and always got excited about singing, and he took that fire to the pulpit to preach the Word of God!
I have absolutely no doubt that when Cullen took that last small breath here on earth that his lungs were full of God's loving breath in Heaven. I know that he heard those words "Well done, good and faithful servant..." (Matthew 25:23) and "Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom, prepared for you from the foundation of the world." (Matthew 25:34)
These words can nowhere near describe the life and influence of Monroe Cullen Williams, but I think they are a really good start. We love you, Cullen, and we will see you on the other side of Heaven.
Pallbearers will be Adam Williams, Jackie Toxey, Morgan Toxey, Scott Edmonds, Ross Vanoy, and Randy Vanoy. Honorary Pallbearers are Kayleen Duncan, Tory Hankins Family, David James and the staff at Inhabit Home Healthcare.
