

Pam was born on May 21, 1960, in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and was the eldest child of Wayne and Kathryn Styres. Growing up in Tuscaloosa, Pam developed a deep love for learning and teaching, which guided her through her education and professional life. A proud graduate of Tuscaloosa County High School, Class of 1978, Pam went on to earn both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Early Childhood Education from the University of Alabama, where she graduated with honors.
For 18 years, Pam dedicated herself to teaching in the Tuscaloosa City Schools, where she was known for her compassion, creativity, and commitment to her students. She had a gift for connecting with children, nurturing their curiosity, and instilling in them a love of learning.
Outside of her professional life, Pam was a fiercely devoted friend, known for her warm heart and loyalty. She found great joy in the company of her pets and cherished the simple pleasures of life. Whether it was a quiet evening at home or a day spent with loved ones, Pam’s presence brought comfort and happiness to those around her.
Pam is survived by her mother, Kathryn Styres, and her sister, Cynthia Styres Blackhall. She was preceded in death by her father, Wayne Styres, her maternal grandparents, Jewel and Clyde Smelley, her paternal grandparents, Marguerite and Herman Styres, her beloved Aunt, Kay Smelley Barkley, and her cousin, Jeremy Blake Palmer. Pam’s family takes comfort in knowing that she is now at peace and reunited with those she loved.
A graveside memorial service to celebrate Pam’s life will be held at Memory Hills Cemetery in Tuscaloosa on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. (CST). Friends and loved ones are invited to attend and honor her life and legacy.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Pam’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Pam’s spirit, kindness, and unwavering love will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew her.
