Patricia Ann Antero was born in the Chelsea section of Manhattan, New York City on October 25, 1936. She was the oldest child of John and Alice Coughlin (Bailey) also of New York City. She graduated from Guardian Angel Catholic grammar school and St. Anthony’s Technical High School, also in Chelsea, New York. Upon graduation Patricia worked for a short time at the Park Sheraton Hotel in a clerical position where she met many famous people who both resided and visited there. Patricia then secured employment with the Equitable Life Insurance Company in Midtown Manhattan. Equitable provided a retreat for their employees in Boonton, New Jersey, that many of her co-workers and she would travel to on weekend getaways. It was there where she met the love of her life, William (Billy) Antero. Patricia and Bill were married on October 30, 1954. They settled in Boonton and raised their family, having three children, Rick, Patricia Mary and Mary Jo. They later moved to Rockaway, New Jersey. Patricia was a very dedicated wife and mother. To help make the ends meet she worked many different jobs throughout her life. Patricia retired from the Morris County Treasurer’s Office in 1998. Upon her and Bill’s retirement they moved to Tuscaloosa, Alabama to be close to her daughter, Patricia, and assist her in caring for her three young children. In addition, she worked in her daughter’s podiatry office in a clerical position.

Patricia is pre-deceased by her husband, Bill, her youngest daughter, Mary Jo, her parents Alice and John, and her two brothers, Richard and Michael.

She is survived by her children, Rick Antero, (Karen) and Patricia Antero-Farris (Patrick), her beloved sister, Teresa Smith (Thomas) of Staten Island, New York, a niece, Tara, and nephew, Thomas, five grandchildren, Lisa Wetklow, (Theodore), Kevin Antero (Nina), Virginia, Michael and William Ferro, and her great grandson TJ Wetklow, who she adored.

Patricia was an impeccable dresser, kept a spotless home and was an amazing and most thoughtful cook for her family her entire life, despite her commitments and work schedule. Patricia will be best remembered for her never-ending love of her family. Mom, Pat, Nanny, Tisha -- she wore many hats with lots of names and was loved deeply by all who knew her.

I will miss you dearly Mrs. Antero. Mostly miss our talks especially over a glass of AG. Thank you for trying to teach me about the Catholic Religion & the All the Angels. Thank you for always praying for my son. You never missed a beat.
My Favorite story of us I must share. You took me to My First Ash Wednesday Service. It was in Spanish. Could not understand a word of the service. Although I did feel the importance and you helped me understand the presence of being there and getting the ashes. I will miss your Grace, Style & Humor!!
Until we meet again My Friend-RIP ❤️

I was deeply saddened to hear of the sudden loss of my Aunt Pat. To say she was my closest or favorite Aunt feels somehow insufficient. Its cliché to hyperbolize about someone after they have passed but everyone that knew her would agree when I say now she was the sweetest woman I have ever known, it is not an exaggeration. In a conversation if I was ever searching for a word, be it soft-spoken, selfless, dignified, pious, altruistic, I could simply say “like Aunt Pat” and my point would be crystal clear.

My prayers go out to my cousins Rick and Tricia that they may find peace and solace through this difficult time. Due to the pandemic, I won’t be able to attend the service but my thoughts are with you. Truth be told, I prefer to keep my final memories of Aunt Pat frozen in time as they are now, nothing but warmth, laughs and smiles.

What can I say about my sister Tisha. She was loving, caring, kind, compassionate and so funny. I could always count on her to be there for me. She was my sister, mother, best friend, and my confidante, secret keeper, and the person who could always make me laugh no matter what. She was the best sister anyone could ever have. Our bond was unbreakable. I will miss our daily conversations, and your laughter, for the rest of my life. I want to thank you, my dear sister, for all your love and everything you have done for me. I don’t know how I managed to write this message, since we always said two Coughlin brains are better than one. I love you and miss you already.
Your loving sister
Terrie

Mrs Antero was such a sweet loving woman that I had the privilege to get to know over the last few years. The pride and love for her family was evident every time you met her. She was selfless, caring and a follower of Christ. While she will be greatly missed, her grace, wisdom, strength and love will live on through her family and all that were honored with getting to know her.

Nanny as we all called her and knew her at Tuscany Podiatry was the sweetest, loving and gentel soul. She lovingly open her heart and arms to those who knew her. I remember all the love she had for her family, her kids were her crown and her grandchildren her jewels. Always showing us pictures of the kids. Nanny I love you and I told you many times and I tell you one more time I loved you and until we see each other again in heaven at the feet of our SaViour Jesus welcome to your well deserved rest.😘
