NORTHPORT - Reba Watts Howell, age 94, passed away October 20, 2017. She was originally from Hamilton, Alabama but considered Northport, Alabama home. The family invites you to celebrate her life Saturday, October 28, 2017 at Northport Baptist Church in Northport, Alabama. Visitation will be at 9:00 a.m. with the service to follow at 10:00 a.m. led by Reverend Brian Hinton.
Reba fell asleep and instantly entered heaven where she was greeted by her Lord and Savior before happily joining her family. Her parents were William Walter Watts and Vera Sisson Watts; husband, James Cash Howell; daughter, Suzanne Howell Cook; sister, Estelle Watts; brothers, Bill Watts, Bert Watts and Wayne Watts.
Reba was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She listened, taught and nurtured those she came in contact with and was fiercely protective of her loved ones. She was an excellent teacher, wonderful cook and hostess serving with grace. Family holidays and celebrations were always special with her! In conversation, she engaged you with a sharp wit, gentle touch and sweet smile. At one point she said her Sunday School class included 44 of her best friends, but the number kept changing, probably because when you met her you were her friend. She worked as a secretary at Crestmont Elementary in Northport, Alabama then in Clanton, Alabama as the pastor's secretary at First Baptist Church of Clanton. She was meticulous in all her work. She was a true Southern Lady.
She is survived by her son, David Howell (Janie) of Birmingham, Alabama; grandchildren, Julie Cook Bratcher (Ryan) of Frisco, Texas, Jason Cook (Sarah) of Birmingham, Alabama, Laura Howell, Montgomery, Alabama. and Mary Katherine Howell Guy (Steven) of Birmingham, Alabama; and great-grandchildren, Noah, Joshua and Hope Bratcher, Gracie and James Cook and Lilly Kate Guy.
