

Rena Mae Murphy Hubbard died at her home on September 6, 2026, after a brief illness. She was born in Greenpond, Bibb County, AL, the youngest child of Victor Murphy and Birdie Mae Murphy. She later moved to Tuscaloosa, where she graduated from Tuscaloosa High School. She later went on to work for Olen Zloenah at Zloenah, Donald & Hust. At a later time, she was employed at Southtrust Bank and retired from VA Credit Union, where she was a loan officer.
Rena was an independent, outspoken woman with a sassy wit. She was also a woman with warm and enduring friendships, many of them lasting from childhood, and she entertained her family and friends with her thoughtful, witty prose and poetry. She was a loving and supportive wife to John S. Hubbard for 34 years.
Rena was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Ted Murphy; and sister, Jean Murphy Milstead.
She is survived by her husband; her children, Rhonda Bush (Randy), Donna Pardue (Mike), Michael Hubbard (Carla); daughter-in-law, Debbie Hubbard; 14 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, and several cherished nieces and nephews
A graveside service will be held at Memory Hill Gardens on September 11, 2026 at 10 am
Pallbearers will be Randy Bush, Mike Pardue, Kendal Hubbard, Caleb Hubbard, Rocky Hoehn, and Bill Murphy
The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of ACG Hospice for their loving care and support, and the many lighthearted moments they provided Rena and the family.
