

He is preceded in death by his father, Lawrence Guthrie; his mother, Evelyn Guthrie; his sister, Beverly Lillibridge; brother, Jerry Guthrie; daughter-in-law, Libby Guthrie.
Gus is survived by his wife, Betty J. Moran Guthrie of 56 years of Tuscaloosa, Alabama; daughters, Brenda Guthrie Mendoza (Frankie) of Clearwater FL, Tracie Guthrie Walker (Edward) of Sevierville TN, Theresa Guthrie Wright (Mark) of Coshocton OH; son, Todd Guthrie of Robertsdale AL; sisters, Mary Guthrie Bowers of Coshocton, OH; 10 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
Robert Allen Guthrie, best known by his friends as 'Gus', 82, of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, passed away on Friday, May 12th. Gus was born and grew up in Coshocton, Ohio. He was a lifetime member of the VFW. He worked at Clow Pipe Plant, North American Coal, and Peabody Coal in Ohio. He then continued his journey to Alabama where he passionately worked at Jim Walters Coal Mines for 24 years before retiring. Gus loved his family with all his heart and enjoyed traveling to visit them. He loved riding motorcycles, listening to county music, dancing, and working on anything that had a motor on it. He enjoyed being outside working in the yard and helping others.
Pallbearers are Frankie Mendoza, Gordon Lamont, Jimmy Rogers, Chance Rogers, James Hall, and Butch Herring.
Due to being laid to rest in the Mausoleum, the family is asking to donate to your favorite charity in lieu of flowers.
A visitation for Gus will be held Monday, May 15, 2023 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Memory Chapel Funeral Home, 2200 Skyland Blvd East, Tuscaloosa, Alabama 35405. Following the visitation will be a cryptside service at 3:00 PM at Memory Hill Gardens- Prayer Mausoleum, 2200 Skyland Blvd East, Tuscaloosa, Alabama 35475.
