Robert Sellers

Robert P. Sellers, age 89, of Tuscaloosa, died May 21, 2011, at Tuscaloosa VA Medical Center. Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Memory Chapel Funeral Home with Pastor John Loper officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Gardens with Memory Chapel Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home. The body will lie in state one hour prior to services at the funeral home.

He was preceded in death by Floro McFerrin and his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret Thompson Sellers; daughter, Sylvia Cassels; sons, Colin Sellers and Tom Minor; sister, Virginia Mink; niece, Beckey Russell; and grandchildren, Crystal Seales, Michael Cassels, Debbie Lawderdale, and Donna Minor.

Robert served in World War II and received honors and medals. He worked with BF Goodrich for 10 years, served as postmaster with the U.S. Postal Service for 30 years, and was a deacon of his church for 20 years. He loved to garden and loved people.

Pallbearers will be provided by Garywood Assembly of God of Hueytown, Ala.

Honorary pallbearers are all his friends, who were many, and the staff of Tuscaloosa VA Medical Center.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Garywood Church Building Fund, Hueytown, AL 35023.
