Mr. Thomas was a retired pharmacist of Harco Drugs. Jerry began his career in 1966 after graduation from Auburn University. As the company grew from 4 to 154 pharmacies he held positions beginning with director, executive vice president and eventually President of Operations in 1993. His Honors include being awarded the 1980 King Kourtsey award by the Drug Travelers of Alabama, and being awarded the 1989 Bowl of Hygeia Award, the Lions Club Lion of the Year Award, he ultimately was inducted into the Alabama Pharmacy Hall Of Fame in 2019. Jerry was a member in numerous community and professional groups. As a member of the Auburn Alumni Association he served as President of the Tuscaloosa Chapter. Jerry served as a Trustee for Judson College. He was a long time member of First Baptist Church Of Tuscaloosa where he taught Sunday School and served as Chairman of Deacons. Jerry held a seat on the Board of Directors of the Salvation Army’s Christmas effort and the Auburn Deans Advisory Council. He gave his time generously, traveling to Honduras, Venezuala, Montana, Dominican Republic and New Orleans on numerous mission trips. Those who worked for him would be quick to tell that working at Harco was the best job they ever had and Jerry Thomas was more than a boss – He was a friend.
