Robert was born September 9, 1956, to his loving parents, Robert C. Yaw, Sr. and Vi Yaw, along with his two big sisters whom adored their “baby brother”. He’s known as Bobby to his family and friends, but to his eight grandchildren he was Paw Paw who adored, cherished him, and will forever miss him.
Bobby was reunited in heaven with his parents, Robert C. Yaw, Sr and Vi Yaw.
Bobby is survived by his wife, Jan; his children Robby Yaw (Jennifer), Heather Rafferty (Conor), Kristi Jayne (Jason), and Ashley Kirkland (Jonathan); his grandchildren Brylan and Kyler Jayne, Bella and Sofie Rafferty, Paxton and Lexi Kirkland, and Hazel and Elli Yaw; mother-in-law Lois Lawrence; Sisters Carol New (Bill), Kathy Farris (Phillip); brothers-in-law Barry Lawrence (Kim) and Mark Lawrence (Regina); Aunt Martha Skelton, nieces and nephews Haley Shaw (Justin) children Avery-Caroline & Davis Benson, Andrea Carol Carter (Joshua) children Brock & Jack, Joshua Farris children Bennett & Kynzleigh, Traci Spruill (Jon) & son Hudson, Cody Lawrence & son Levi; and Jeremy Lawrence, along with many extended loved ones.
To know Bobby was to instantly have a friend for life. He is a man who loved people and has more close friends than you can count. Many friends go back to his childhood and high school years. He grew up in Tuscaloosa and graduated from Tuscaloosa High School in 1974. Bobby excelled in athletics, football and baseball, which carried over into his adult life. One of his greatest joys was to be on the field with his son and grandsons as a coach or umpire. He was both his children and grandchildren’s biggest fan as he watched them, which also included on the dance floor, gymnastics and cheering competitions. In his career, he worked as a postman throughout Tuscaloosa.
The most important part of Bobby’s life was that he was a Christian. He loved his Lord and wanted to make sure he shared that with others in all walks of his life. He and Jan are members of Ridgecrest Baptist Church where Bobby served as a deacon for many years. His legacy is that of a faithful, kind, and humble servant of the Lord that was an encourager to everyone.
There is an abundance of friends that we could list and name, but we want to say a special thank you of appreciation to Dr. Gene Alldredge (friend since high school), Dr. Joshua Argo, Drs.
