Rolando Armando Ramos (“Mandy” to his family), was born September 3rd, 1974, at the USNH Rosevelt Roads, Ceiba, Puerto Rico. He is survived by his mother Paula G. Ramos of Tuscaloosa, Al, father Luis A. Ramos (Lucy) of Dacula, GA, two brothers Reinaldo A. Ramos (Erica) of Gainesville, GA, Raul A. Ramos (Cassandra) of Dacula, Ga, three nieces Britney Mehic, Brittany Ramos and Brea Ramos; three nephews Julian Ramos and Mateo Ramos and Mirzet Mehic; 2 great nephews Lucas and Zayn Mehic and his new great niece Emilia Ramos born December 28th of 2024, and a host of cousins and friends.
Mandy lived an exceptional life beginning in Puerto Rico and moving to Tuscaloosa Alabama in 1980 at the age of five. He attended Holy Spirit Catholic Church where he had his first communion into the church and was an alter server. It was a difficult transition to live a carefree military life in Puerto Rico and moving to the civilian life in Alabama. His stay was brief and 2 years later moved to Wildflecken, Germany where he fell in love with the culture and food of the German people. His favorite restaurant was notably Rolf’s German Restaurant (Tuscaloosa) where he would always enjoy authentic food and beer to his liking.
In the summer of 1987 at the age of 13 Mandy returned to Tuscaloosa and attended Hillcrest High School where he excelled; graduating with an advanced Diploma and meeting people who would become lifelong friends. While there Mandy earned a full scholarship to the University of Alabama’s ROTC program. Little did he know it would be one of the best and most trying times in his life. He always wanted to serve his country proudly like his father, uncles and brothers before him, but an injury prevented him from reaching his full potential and eventually lost his scholarship because of a knee injury. This was a very dark time because he always wanted to serve; his dreams had been forever changed. Through the motivation of his parents Mandy continued his studies and put all his focus into school.
In 1998 Mandy graduated from Alabama with a Bachelor of Arts degree. His newfound love for coding and fixing things (especially computers) was on full display. He would take any and everything apart only to put it back together. He also found a newfound love in Deejaying where he was known at several local establishments and where he enjoyed meeting future lifelong friends. But everyone knows his passion was photography. He had an eye for the camera, and it showed. He freelanced with several business establishments across town and eventually started working at Fed-Ex Kinkos and was there for 20 years until his passing.
Mandy was a very private person. He did not share his life openly with others because he did not take disappointment well. He always put others before himself and never told others “No” without trying to help first. As busy as he could be at times, he always made time to see his mother every Sunday for dinner. It was something he enjoyed doing because he loved his mother so much.
In remembrance of our son, brother, nephew, cousin, friend and any other relationship people had with him we’d like to remember those good times…that great smile he had….and the difference he made in our lives. This has forever changed us, and we miss him dearly. We will carry him in our hearts and minds forever. We Love you, Mandy. May God take you under his bosoms and protect your soul for all eternity. Until we meet again.
