
David is survived by his devoted wife, Gayle Howard (née Ashley); his daughter Amy Duncan; his son Andrew Howard; his son-in-law Jack Duncan; his daughter-in-law Brantley S. Howard; five cherished grandchildren: Abby Duncan and John Duncan; Drew Howard, Carter Howard, and Brantley A. Howard; three beloved bonus grandchildren: Ansley Martin (née Sims), Bryce Sims, Connor Sims; and one precious great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy D. and Sue Howard (née Graham); his sister Betsy Howard Bennett, and brother-in-law Scott Bennett; his parents-in-law Guy and Kathleen Ashley; and his sister-in-law Mary Cole.
A man of faith and integrity, David was a longtime member of Forest Lake United Methodist Church, where he found strength, friendship, and purpose through service and fellowship. He will be remembered for his kind heart, steady spirit, and deep love for his family.
The family wishes to thank the compassionate staff of Hospice of West Alabama for their care and support.
A celebration of David’s life will be held at a later date at Forest Lake United Methodist Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hospice of West Alabama or Forest Lake United Methodist Church in his memory.
David’s life was one of faith, family, and quiet strength—a legacy that will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
