Ruth was born in Tuscaloosa County on October 3, 1935. She lived in Northport, Alabama her entire life outside of the last two years. She retired with over twenty years of service at both the First National Bank of Tuscaloosa and the Federal Bankruptcy Court.
She was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Her love, support, and selfless generosity was readily available and always unconditional. She will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her.
Ruth is preceded in death by her son Kenneth Ray Sullivan, her parents Wiley and Zuma Taylor, her Mother-in-Law Elsie Sullivan, her husband Ray Sullivan, and her sister LaJune Smalley. She is survived by her daughters, Cathy Davis of Atlanta, and Karen Hulsey of Tuscaloosa. Ruth is also survived by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Grandchildren are Jace Hulsey (Melissa), Ashley Meehan (Ryan), Courtney Smith (Alex), Meredith Hilton (Clark), and Caroline Hulsey. Great-grandchildren are Colt Hulsey, Eli Hulsey, Killian Hulsey, Madeline Meehan, Regan Meehan, Harper Meehan, Hudson Hilton, Samuel Hilton and Aiden Smith.
A memorial service will be held at Memory Hill Gardens in Tuscaloosa, Alabama on Sunday September 13th at 2pm. Family will receive guests before the service, starting at 1pm.
Those desiring, may make a memorial contribution to St. Judes Children’s Research Hospital, Sand Springs United Methodist Church or a charity close to their hearts.
