
.TUSCALOOSA – Sarah Virginia Morgan, age 91, of Tuscaloosa, died July 11, 2016, peacefully at home. Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, July 14, 2016, at Memory Chapel Funeral Home with Lynn Joyner Anderson officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Gardens with Memory Chapel Funeral Home & Cremations, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be from 12:30 to 2 p.m. prior to services at the funeral home.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin H. Morgan, Sr.; parents, G. A. and Mary Lee Joyner; sister, Laureen Herrington; and brothers, Oliver and Kenneth Joyner.
Survivors include her sons, Edwin H. Morgan, Jr. (Diane) of Auburn, Ala., Fredrick K. Morgan (Polly) and Rex M. Morgan (Debbie) of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; sisters, Mary Miller (Earl) and Peggy Stephens; sister-in-law, Betty Joyner, all of Meridian, Miss.; grandchildren Edwin Morgan III, Robin Morgan, Eric Morgan, Marcus Morgan and Kristina Morgan McCool; and numerous great-grandchildren, nephews and nieces.
After graduating from Center Hill High School in 1942, Sarah went to work as a telephone operator for AT&T. After getting married in 1946, she moved to Tuscaloosa to raise her family and became an avid fan of Alabama football.
Sarah enjoyed reading, playing Bridge and traveling with her husband of 65 years, Ed, but devoted most of her life to taking care of her family. She was active in the Women's Postal Auxiliary and served as state president for 2 terms.
It was her fervent wish to end her life's journey in her own home and thanks to the loving, personal care of her daughter-in-law, Debbie Morgan, her wish was fulfilled.
Sarah loved and was beloved by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews as well as many other friends.
