One day Smokey got out and I just hear Steve hollering for him to come back to the house. But Smokey has done spotted me and my dogs outside so he runs to me. I pick him up and take him back up to Steve and the whole time all I hear is “that damn dog. I don’t even like you. You need to get in the house and stay there.” I put Smokey up and come back out and Steve just rolls his eyes at me and goes thank you CC!

This family has been apart of my life for 10-12 years now. They are the most kind, loving, and giving people you could meet. The first I met Steve and told him my name he just kinda looked at me like I made something up. After being around for about 2 years he finally realized I wasn’t going anywhere and he had to learn my name instead of asking every time I came over. One day he goes what else can I call you? And I said CC is fine most of my family calls me that. Every since that day Steve called me CC. I’ll miss coming up to the house and seeing you but I know you’re happy and pain free now!

I don't remember the first time I met Steve but I do remember every day after. It started with him driving me and my brother home from school every single day. Then when I stayed at Amber's every weekend he was always so happy and was ALWAYS glad to sit down and talk to me. Countless times I have sat outside on the old truck bench seat talking about random things and laughing about nothing. After I graduated I didn't go over there as much, but every time I did, it never failed, he was smiling and asking all about life. I can't choose one individual memory I had with Steve. But I do know that every single day that I saw him, it was happy. I never heard him complain, never saw him and he didn't smile at me. He had a wonderful soul and it will ALWAYS be remembered. 

Steve,
As I sit here reflecting on the 28 years we had together so many memories come to mind. You and that dang Fierro you drove like a bat out of hell while somehow still babying it. You and PawPaw letting me shoot your shotgun in Oneonta not warning me of the kick that thing had causing me to fall flat on my butt and causing yall to turn red as a tomato from laughing at me but quickly swearing me to secrecy to not tell anyone...well until now I kept that promise. Our rotel dip and grilled smoked sausage, onions, and bell pepper dinners when I lived with you and Cindy in Ware's Trailer Park, also the way you accepted me as your own and so often filling in for my dad with advice, support, and love when he wasn't there. You were more of a constant father figure than he was throughout different times of my life. I will never be able to show you and Cindy both the amount of gratitude, appreciation, love, and thanks for being there for me when my own parents weren't and for doing the same with Abigail. Yes there definitely has been about as many downs as there has ups but hey that's life. Just know you will always hold a special place, you'll always be my Uncle Steve, no other like you, you were definitely one-in-a-million!!! I will always remember you, miss you, and love you!!! Now I can love you even more knowing all your pain and sorrow is over!!! Fly High Peacefully and Painlessly. Help Tracy, PawPaw, Jimbo and Thomas watch over us and keep us all safe!! Until I see y'all again 😇❤⚓🌠

May the Lord comfort your family during this difficult time. Our prayers are with you all! Even though he's our cousin we always called him uncle Steve. So many memories growing up of you and daddy drinking beer and so much laughter! You will be missed and please give Daddy a hug from us, I'm sure y'all are having a blast!

The one thing I’ll never forget is the Donald Duck voice. The kids (every single one of them) LOVED that duck voice. And the laughter it got not only from the babies but from you. It was one of the best sounds that full, from the bottom of your gut laughter. ❤️

Steve was my uncle, so we have lots of memories, but here is one of my favorites… 
We were sitting on the porch, Steve was drinking moonshine, and told me try it. So, I took a sip. 
Me- “woah, that’ll take the hair off your chest!”
Steve- “No JoJo, that’ll take the hair off your balls” 

I’m not sure what I’m going to do now when I need all the tools I don’t have. I can’t come bug you for them. I can’t listen to you gripe for days until I bring them back, and come for me if something is missing or out of place. 
I am so glad you aren’t sick or suffering anymore though. Love you. 

I would have to write a book to tell all the memories and wild things about Steve that come to mind when I think of him. Steve was definitely one of a kind. I started roaming around the Murphy house as a young child, 10 or so, and eventually married into the family. Steve would make comments everytime I came over “oh lord, she’s here again..”
 “does this kid ever go home?” 
Then it progressed as I got older and stopped coming over as often “where ya been ole tabby?” 
“When ya gonna have us a baby?”
“Oh God, that kid looks just like Joe Joe” 
I could keep going. 
It’ll sure be strange not seeing him sitting on the porch, or cruising around the property in his truck. 
Thank you for all the memories Steve, you’ll sure be missed. Love you, and until I get to heaven, take care of my baby girl for me!

Oh Steve,  I'm gonna miss you. We had alot of good and fun times together,  you taught me how to drive a stick and you letting me drive to the store you thought we were going to die I will never forget that. I will also never forget every morning at 730 you were in my driveway honking the horn to tell me to get ready and go to Decatur for some beer you were one of a kind you will truly be missed I know I wasn't around the past year or 2 but I did make a chance to see you when I could I am sorry and mad at myself for not coming and seeing you sooner. But til we meet again I love you and see you on the other side

Your life has been fun and hard at times but we made it to adult with all the trouble we got into when we was growing up.  I going to miss you and I love you Steve.

I remember the day I was about 7 years old when he helped change a street lamp bulb out for my grandmother. He joked around with me and encouraged me to assist him with as much as I could. Made me really feel like I was a big part of accomplishing something nice for my grandmother. 

Uncle Steve, I’ll miss the Family gatherings at grandma’s house when Amber, Zack , and I were normally up to trouble. I’m so grateful for all the memories I have of you and all the stories you and my dad use to tell us during the holidays. Mrs. Cindy and amber, I love y’all ❤️
