

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dan and Ruby Ewing, brothers, Gene Ewing and Wade Ewing, and sister Rose Ewing Holliman.
Survivors include: his wife Eleanor L. Ewing, sister Connie Ewing Gaddy, sister-in-law, Pat Ewing, sons Steven Ewing and Jeffrey Ewing. Grand children: David Ewing, Jessicia Ewing Farris, Daniel Ewing, Anna Kathleen Ewing Peters, Ethan Ewing, Tabitha Ryan, Ryan Denton. Great-Grandchildren: Stevie Ewing, Miller Ewing, Nathan Farris, Samuel Farris, Harvey Farris, Hadley Ryan, Tatum Denton.
Steve graduated from Holt High School. He served four years in the United States Navy as a Quartermaster piloting the USS Bon Homme Richard CV-10 and the USS Oriskany CV-18. After returning home, he worked for Findley Towing and the Army Corps of Engineers at Lock #15, Oliver Lock and Dam, and Holt Lock and Dam where he was the Lock Master. He retired from the Corp in 1990. Steve was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, and camping. His days were often filled with woodworking, perfecting his yard and telling the best stories. Steve’s ultimate enjoyment was his family.
Pallbearers will be nieces and nephews. Honorary pallbearers are employees of the United States Army Corps of Engineers.
Funeral services will be held at Memory Chapel Funeral Home & Cremations, a Dignity Memorial Provider on Sunday July 27th. Family visitation will be at 12:30 p.m. General visitation will be from 1 to 2:00 p.m. The funeral services will begin at 2:00 p.m. and will be officiated by Reverend Shuan Faulkner.
