TUSCALOOSA – Susan A. Stutz, age 68, of Tuscaloosa, Ala., died June 24, 2018 at her home. Services will be held 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 28, 2018, at Memory Chapel Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Gardens with Memory Chapel Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 27, 2018, at the funeral home.
She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Yingling and mother, Violet Buttery.
Survivors include her husband, Mack Stutz of Tuscaloosa; daughters, Anita Gleeson (Harold) of Gordo and Jill Scott (James) of Niagara Falls, N.Y.; sons, Corey Gleeson of Lockport, N.Y., David Gleeson (Rachel) of Chattanooga, Tenn. and Tom Stutz (Tara) of Key West, Fla.; sister, Barbara Tisack (Bus) of Lockport, N.Y.; brother, Larry Yingling (Barbara); and grandchildren, Amber Shelton (Matthew), Shawn Bingham, Rayne Janus, Alexander Gleeson, Ryker Stutz and Allen Scott.
Susan was born in Lockport, New York on February 9, 1950. She worked for Harrison Radiator and Delphi for 30 years. She married Mack Stutz on February 18, 1989. They moved to Tuscaloosa, Alabama on February 13, 1993.
She joined the Moose Chapter No. 137 in Tuscaloosa in 1998 and was a lifetime member. She received every degree including the International Novice Co-Worker of the Year in 2002, 2007, 2011 for the State of Alabama, also receiving International Novice Co-Worker of the Year for Moose International in 2002, plus a past Deputy Grand Regent. She earned the Top Sponsor Award from the Women of the Moose in 2006 as well as a lifetime Achievement Award in 2015-2016.
Susan volunteered in many community service projects around town including Relay For Life, Senior Citizens Center, and The Cancer Society as well as visited Mooseheart and Mooseheaven many times. She was also a member of the Local UAW Union 2083.
She fought a very hard battle with cancer since April of 2000.
Susan Stutz was an amazing person, inside and out. She was always kind and treated everyone with love and care. She was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
Pallbearers will be James C. Hunter, Doug Killian, Ralph Woody Davis, Corey Gleeson, David Gleeson and Tom Stutz.
Honorary pallbearers are Moose Chapter 137, Tuscaloosa Moose Lodge 804, Dr. Melanie Graham and Dr. Brian Wilhite.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Moose Charities and the Cancer Society.
