
Mrs. Simpson was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Simpson Sr.; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Pradat; her brother, Edward Pradat; and her sisters, Teresa Pradat and Margaret Marshall.
She is survived by her sons, Thomas Simpson Jr. (Pam) and Walter Simpson (Teresa); her grandchildren, Weston, Erin, Emily, and John Patrick; and her brothers, John Pradat (Laura) and the Rev. Ray Pradat.
Mrs. Simpson was a graduate of West End High School in Birmingham, Alabama. She worked for the Social Security Administration and the U.S. Geological Survey. She retired from the University of Alabama as an administrator in the Geology Department. Mrs. Simpson was married at Canterbury Episcopal Chapel and taught Sunday School and served on the Vestry. She was president of the Tuscaloosa County PTA and served on the Indian Rivers Mental Health Board and served as the Board's President. In later years, she was a volunteer at the Community Soup Bowl of Tuscaloosa.
The family would like to thank her caregivers, Helen Ware, Kim Bigham, Pam Montgomery, Marie Lewis, Debra Hopson, and the late Eloise Herron.
Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 25, 2012, at Canterbury Episcopal Chapel with the Rev. Marc Burnette officiating. Interment of ashes will follow at 3 p.m. at Elmwood Cemetery in Birmingham with Heritage Chapel Funeral Home & Cremations, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be Saturday following the memorial service at Canterbury Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Canterbury Episcopal Chapel or the Geology Department at the University of Alabama.
