Tony is survived by Eloise Martin Stough, his loving wife of 64 years; son, Jeff Stough (Patricia) of Tuscaloosa; daughters, Sharron Rudowski (John) of Northport and Donna Stough of Pensacola, Fla.; four grandchildren, Jeremy (fiancée Devon) and Jared Crowder (Casey), Kevin (Erika)and Mary Stough; four great-grandchildren, Oakleigh and Maddux Crowder and Mia and Barrett Stough; brothers, Hoyt Stough (Betty) of Apopka, Fla. and John Stough of Winter Park, Fla.; and sister, Lottie Smith of Apopka.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Dewey and Mary Davis Stough.
Tony's career in law enforcement spanned 34 years. He retired in 1996 after 22 years as Deputy Director of the University of Alabama Law Enforcement Academy where he trained thousands of rookie and seasoned officers in firearms, public relations and standards. He served the City of Tuscaloosa Police Department for 12 years and left with the rank of Lieutenant. Simultaneously, he served 30 years as an instructor for the National Rifle Association. He was a graduate of the Southern Police Institute of Louisville, Ky.
Tony was a member of Arbor Springs Baptist Church where he served as a deacon.
Visitation will be at Memory Chapel Funeral Home, from 6 to 8 p.m., on Saturday, May 19, 2018. Funeral services will be Sunday, May 20, 2018 at 3 p.m. followed by interment at Memory Hill Gardens.
Pallbearers will be the Tuscaloosa Police Department Honor Guard.
Honorary pallbearers include his former students; current and former members of the Tuscaloosa Police Department; University of Alabama Law Enforcement Academy (APOSTC); Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's Department; Northport Police Department; University of Alabama Police Department; Alabama State Trooper Tuscaloosa Post; Randy and Susie Freeman; Billy and Jeanette Estes; Curtis and Cheryl Porter; Alex and Peggy Kronoski; Billy and Jackie Sharp; Brandon and Tonya West; Russell E. Summerlin; Dr. and Mrs. Ted Sessoms; Dr. Stephen Browne; Dr. Anne Lewis; and Dr. Mohammad Azam.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Arbor Springs Baptist Church Building Fund, 17482 Finnell Road, Northport, AL 35475.
